Software Review: Volumetrix 2, Pg. 2

I’ve personally used Volumetrix since it first was offered and welcome this consolidation. It’s is so nice to avoid stacking the operations now when needing both glow and zoom.

The beauty of this plug-in is it’s flawless imitations of light wrap in 3D space. Light rays bloom around the edges of the objects as the transition effect takes place, alternately obscuring and revealing the subject. Creating for both imagery and text, V2’s claim to fame is text treatments but it can be used very creatively on other subject matter.

Depth of Options
As the name would imply, Volumetix generates light rays, glows and shimmers in volumetric fashion. (“Volumetric” is fancy 3D talk for 3D space that interacts with light.) Because of this, the effects have a very pleasing, real-world type of light degeneration and fall-off with distance. Users get the kind of controls that they need to capitalize on this.

Organized into categories of Source, Animation, Style, Light Rays, Glow and Distortion, controls are logically arranged and displayed/hidden by virtue of disclosure triangles to help keep the interface clean and simple when not needing all features. A nice enhancement of the glow features is the ability to truly blow out the image with really aggressive settings
