Software Review: Lightroom 2, Pg. 2

Performance
This software is absolutely excellent for photographic editing. It can bring out the true potential in your photos and make an “okay” photo look great. (Disclaimer: Please keep in mind that this software will not fix poor photography. If you took a picture at a concert on your camera phone from 150 feet away, don’t expect LR2 to make it look like it came out of Rolling Stone.)

Creating a website to feature your photos in Lightroom 2 is very easy and innovative..

Value
For a photographer, the $300 for this software will quickly pay for itself by making your editing process faster and more efficient. Because it includes slideshow and web exports, you won’t have to keep switching between multiple programs. (Wedding photographers, imagine being able to edit wedding photos, print them out, put together a slideshow, and upload all of the photos onto a website all in one fell swoop!)

Final Comments
For photographers, Lightroom 2 shows that you don’t have to master a complicated software program in order to make your pictures look great. This software is incredibly simple to learn, with easy-to-navigate menus and toolbars. There is a vast array of editing and export options available, all created with the professional /serious amateur photographer in mind. There are a few small things I would like to see added to a future edition (e.g. export directly to CD/DVD and mixed-photo print option), but overall, this software is a must-have for the digital photographer!
