Award of SuperiorityGood color correction can make a huge difference in the look of your finished film. But if you're not a professional colorist, you'll find it difficult to create those amazing looks yourself. My early attempts at coloring led to skin tones being off, or over-effected by the general look, and milky or over contrasty pictures. Don't kid yourself…colorists get paid so well because their job is difficult, and the correct equipment is expensive.

One interesting story that comes to mind is Mel Gibson's film, Payback. If you watch the theatrical version of the film, you will see that everything has a 'bleach bypass' blue look. Almost overly blue…but it gave a definitive style to the film, like it or not. When the film came out on DVD, you could get the "Director's Cut" which other than having some extra scenes and other small changes, had a much simpler color correction. After watching the film with that stylized blue, it was hard to love the film in its new version…without that look.

When I was first introduced to Red Giant's Magic Bullet Looks, it made me very excited. It has a very easy to use interface, and you could use many different elements to give some amazing looks to your project. Now Red Giant has added to their amazing Magic Bullet Suite, and gives you some amazing easy to use tools to create high value color correction in minutes. Welcome to Magic Bullet Mojo.

Magic Bullet Mojo, Picture 1

Simple slider tools adjust globally or just skin tones.

Ease of Use
Magic Bullet Mojo is very easy to install, as it automatically finds your editing suite, whether it's Final Cut, Premiere, Sony Vegas, Motion, or After Effects. It has a simple interface with 10 sliders that instantly adjust your footage. Having so few sliders just shows you how much power you have in each one. You will quickly learn what each slider manipulates, and you can create some amazing looks with very little effort.

If you want to expend even less effort, and you have Magic Bullet Looks, Mojo comes with several preset looks that will automatically become available to you within Looks. They are great action film looks, and immediately give a new style to your film.

Depth of Options
The options in Mojo are intentionally few. It makes it a much simpler plug-in to manipulate for low budget filmmakers who need to finish their entire project within their own computer. Each tool adjusts globally, or focuses on skin tone. Being able to focus on the skin tone is such an important attribute…The actors in frame should be the focus, and quite often you draw focus away when you change color and contrast globally.
