Independent feature successfully raises funds to complete post-production

April 12, 2017 – BVB Films is excited to announce the successful completion of their crowdfunding campaign for “Nowhere, Michigan”, the independent feature film directed by Robert Vornkahl, written by Andrew Beguin, and starring Emmy nominee Tequan Richmond (“General Hospital”, “Blue Caprice”, “Everybody Hates Chris”), Jenna Boyd (“The Missing”, “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”), Christina Scherer (“The Intern”), Richard Riehle (“Office Space”, “Glory”, “Casino”), and Ashlie Atkinson (“Bridge of Spies”, “The Wolf of Wall Street”).

Upon reaching its goal, the production company has also released it’s official full trailer, linked at the bottom of this release.

The film ran a 30-day crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, reaching its $20,000 goal with over 24 hours to spare. The campaign will end on 4/13/17 at 12pm, EST. All funds raised will be used for post-production costs such as color correction, special effects, sound editing, film festivals, and more.

Fleeing the scene of a murder, David (Tequan Richmond) drives north, attempting to get as far as away possible. He ends up in a small, frozen town in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and reluctantly becomes absorbed into the town, forms unlikely relationships, and starts to build a new life for himself.

The colorful locals of this small town become integrally woven into David’s life. Madison (Jenna Boyd), a pregnant bartender with a rough past and hard nosed attitude; April (Christina Scherer), a girl-next-door waitress who can barely conceive of a world outside her hometown; Martin (Richard Riehle), an older, gruff ice fisherman who is deeply suspicious of David; and Erin (Ashlie Atkinson), a local drug dealer who befriends David but gets caught in the crosshairs when his past catches up with him.

Shot over five weeks in Michigan in February/March 2016, “Nowhere, Michigan” is set against the stunning backdrop of a frigid, snowy mid-western winter. The cast and crew braved temperatures in the single digits, shooting outside on a frozen lake, a desolate farmhouse, and barren woods.

This is Robert Vornkahl’s second feature film as director, his first being the award winning “Completely Normal” (2015), also produced by the BVB team. Vornkahl was raised in the Upper Peninsula and returned to his hometown and surrounding area to shoot “Nowhere, Michigan”.
