There are always a handful of movies that people hold near and dear to their hearts. These films, after a brief stint in the theater, are sent to video where they’re usually bought because of their sentimental value, but rarely re-watched.

The gang at The Retro Dome believes some films are just meant to be seen on the big screen and wants to give guests the opportunity to relive those unforgettable theater experiences: a first date or kiss with that special someone, or a memorable night with friends, or maybe it’s simply a film that has been viewed hundreds of times, but can’t live up to that magical experience of seeing it in the theater.

Throughout February and March, The Retro Dome will show classic and epic films like The Spy Who Loved Me (Feb. 21-22) and Lawrence of Arabia (Feb. 28-Mar. 1). The epic movie adventure continues in March with Goldfinger (Mar. 14-15). As an added bonus, Mercury Newspaper columnist and James Bond fan, Pizarro, Sal Pizarro will host our James Bond Mini Marathon with a movie talk before each James Bond screening.

“We saw that there was a real desire to see these movies in the theater,” said Scott Guggenheim, who runs The Retro Dome along with his wife, Shannon and brother, Steve. “When we asked our fans, we found out that they had a real connection to the films we’re showing. We also thought it would be a great chance for seniors, many of whom saw the films when they were originally released, to see them again like they saw them the first time – on the big screen – or share them with younger generations.”

Additional films include: Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet (Feb. 8-9) and West Side Story, our fan favorites Sing-Along Hairspray (Feb. 14-16) and Sing-Along Grease (Mar. 7-9), our ‘80s double bill with Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (Mar. 21-22), The Breakfast Club (Mar. 21-22), and our Pixar double bill with A Bug’s Life (Mar. 29-30), and Finding Nemo (Mar. 29-30).
