Dallas, Texas – Two Dallas-based companies that have collaborated to produce the first 3-D version of an independent film are staging the movie’s premiere on December 19th at 7 p.m. and, due to high public interest, a second showing at 10 p.m. at The Venetian Theaters Movie Bar and Grill in Carrollton.

Zero One, a science fiction thriller written and produced by Kareem Gray, will be the basis for a TV series now in development, The Zero One Mandate. The film, which revolves around a man who discovers a computer program that has the power to save or destroy humanity, has been screened at film festivals around the world.

It won the Best Screenplay and Best Original Music awards at the Boston Sci-Fi Festival, and was named Best Film at this year’s Dallas Black Film Festival. Ticket Stubs Entertainment called it “hugely enjoyable for all ages.”

Now the original 2-D version has been converted into a 3-D movie experience by P3DHD, a Dallas company that is pioneering quick, high quality, cost effective conversions of conventional film and video into 3-D.

Alan Hoffman, Chief Marketing Officer for P3DHD, said the process took days instead of weeks. “After Kareem saw some sample footage of what we could do in our Dallas production center, he was sold,” he said. “We then decided to collaborate on the production and Kareem felt the results exceeded his expectations.”

Mr. Gray, who is managing director of Grey Area FilmWorks, said that independent producers “have a hard time raising funds for production, much less the 3-D process. My understanding of the P3DHD process allowed me to produce the film in 2-D, knowing that it would be converted to 3D and resulting in a more immersive viewing experience.”
